billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$54.56 billion, or 14.47% of the market's
turnover. There were 702 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and HSCEI ETF (02828) saw
higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$5.86 billion and HK$4.68 billion, or 10.74%
and 8.58% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 13.8%
and 31.33% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W (09988) and XIAOMI-W (01810) registered HK$4.32 billion and HK$3.82 billion of
short sales, accounting for 7.91% and 7.01% of the total short sales values respectively.
The transactions represented 15.57% and 18.53% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$38.5, or 7.62%, to HK$544. HSCEI ETF ended up HK$3.1, or 3.51%, to
HK$91.38. BABA-W rose HK$10.9, or 8.39% to HK$140.8. XIAOMI-W jumped HK$0.7, or 1.29%, to
HK$54.9.
